Indian Students Return Amid Bangladesh Student Protests
Dhaka: In response to the volatile situation amidst student protests in Bangladesh, approximately 1000 Indian students have safely returned to India via land ports and regular flights from Dhaka and Chittagong airports.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that 778 students returned via land ports, while around 200 utilized flight services. The High Commission of India in Dhaka and Assistant High Commissions in other cities have been actively involved in facilitating their safe return.
Coordination with local authorities ensures measures for safe travel to border crossing points, with ongoing support for over 4000 Indian students remaining in Bangladesh universities. Assistance has also extended to students from Nepal and Bhutan.
Security arrangements, including escorts, have been arranged for road travel where necessary. The MEA continues to liaise with Bangladeshi authorities and airlines to maintain uninterrupted flight services for Indian nationals.
