AIFF Appoints Manolo Marquez as India Men’s Football Team Head Coach
New Delhi – The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has appointed Manolo Marquez as the head coach of India’s men’s football team, a decision confirmed during the AIFF Executive Committee meeting held on Saturday. Marquez, currently managing FC Goa in the Indian Super League (ISL), will continue his role with the club for the 2024–25 season while gradually transitioning to lead the national team full-time.
Expressing his gratitude, Marquez stated, “It’s an honour for me to be the National Football Team coach of India, a country I consider my second home.” He acknowledged FC Goa for their support in facilitating this dual role, emphasizing his commitment to both teams.
With coaching experience in India since 2020, Marquez notably guided Hyderabad FC to their maiden ISL title in the 2021–22 season before joining FC Goa in 2023. His coaching career spans management roles in Spain’s La Liga, where he led Las Palmas during the 2017–18 season.
AIFF’s decision reflects confidence in Marquez’s ability to nurture young Indian talent, highlighted by his success in developing homegrown players into championship contenders.
