Hyderabad: The Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Society (TMRIES) has lauded the state government’s budget allocation for minority welfare, equating it to the entire central government’s provision.
Mohammed Faheemuddin Qureshi, vice-chairman and president of TMRIES, expressed appreciation for Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu’s proposal of Rs 3,000 crore for minority welfare in the state budget announced on Thursday.
Qureshi highlighted the stark contrast with the Union budget, where Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman allocated only Rs 3,183 crore for minority welfare nationwide. He criticized the minimal increase in central budget allocations for minorities over the years.
“If we aggregate the minority budgets of Congress-ruled states like Telangana, Karnataka, and Himachal Pradesh, it surpasses three times the budget of the Central Ministry of Minority Affairs,” Qureshi emphasized.
The TMRIES endorsement underscores Telangana’s proactive stance towards minority welfare, contrasting with perceived stagnation at the national level.
