India’s Swapnil Kusale Advances to 50m Rifle 3 Positions Final at Paris Olympics
Chateauroux: Indian shooter Swapnil Kusale secured a spot in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions men’s final at the Paris Olympics, finishing seventh in the qualifications with a score of 590. Kusale’s performance in the 60-shot qualifying round included 38 inner 10s, demonstrating a strong showing across all three shooting positions.
Kusale started strongly with scores of 99 in the kneeling position and maintained his form in the prone position with scores of 98 and 99. Despite a minor dip in the final standing position, where he scored 98 and 97, his overall tally was sufficient to advance to the final.
Fellow Indian shooter Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar narrowly missed qualification, ending the qualification round in 11th place with 589 points and 33 inner 10s. Tomar’s hopes were hindered by a challenging first series in the standing position, where he scored 95.
The qualification round was led by China’s Liu Yukun, who set an Olympic qualification record with a score of 594. In an unexpected outcome, Liu’s compatriot Du Linshu, the World qualification record holder, did not advance to the final.
