Union Minister Giriraj Singh Targets Hindenburg Research, Blames Congress for Defamation
New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh has accused Hindenburg Research of defaming India in collaboration with the Congress, and vowed that “strictest action” will be taken against the US-based short-seller.
Hindenburg Research recently criticized Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) Chairperson Madhabi Buch, alleging her and her husband Dhaval were linked to offshore funds implicated in the alleged Adani money laundering scandal. Both Buch and her husband have dismissed these claims as unfounded, emphasizing their transparent financial dealings.
The Adani Group has labeled the accusations as malicious and based on manipulated information, asserting they have no commercial ties with the Buchs.
Speaking to reporters, Singh, who is also the Union Minister for Textiles, criticized Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Jairam Ramesh, describing them as part of a scheme to tarnish India’s image. Singh labeled Hindenburg’s actions as an attempt to undermine the nation and suggested that Congress is behind these efforts.
Singh denounced Gandhi as ignorant of national affairs and cautioned citizens against those creating confusion and fear. He also dismissed calls from Congress for a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation into the Hindenburg report, branding Hindenburg as a tool for destabilizing India and accusing Gandhi of complicity in these efforts.
Gandhi had previously called for a JPC probe into the allegations against Sebi Chairperson Madhabi Buch, warning of potential threats to the integrity of India’s stock markets.
Singh’s remarks were made during the ‘Handloom Expo’ event, reflecting the ongoing tensions surrounding the Hindenburg report and its implications for Indian politics and financial oversight.
