Hyderabad: Telangana Government to Launch 120 New Residential Schools with Rs 5000 Crore Budget

Hyderabad witnessed a significant policy announcement as Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu unveiled plans to establish 120 new residential schools across 30 regions in Telangana. This ambitious initiative, backed by a substantial budget of Rs 5000 crore, aims to bolster educational infrastructure and enhance the learning environment for students from various communities.

The announcement was made during a meeting held at the state secretariat, attended by BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and senior officials responsible for SC, ST, BC, and minority residential schools. The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to improving educational facilities and addressing critical needs in the state’s residential schooling system.

Key Directives and Requirements

One of the central directives from Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka was the mandate to equip all government hostels and residential schools with essential amenities, including cots and beds for every student. Officials have been instructed to conduct a comprehensive review of current facilities and prepare proposals to address any additional requirements.

In addition to bed provision, Bhatti emphasized the necessity of providing basic infrastructure such as clean toilets, running water, electricity, and mosquito mesh. To ensure adherence to these standards, a detailed checklist of these requirements must be compiled and submitted by August 29. This checklist will also be prominently displayed in every hostel to maintain transparency and accountability.

Overseas Scholarships

Addressing concerns raised by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Bhatti also directed officials to expedite the release of the second installment of overseas scholarships. This move is aimed at alleviating financial pressures on students studying abroad. Officials have been tasked with compiling a list of pending scholarships and ensuring prompt disbursement to prevent any disruptions in students’ academic pursuits.

For the current academic year, the scholarship program will benefit 800 students from the BC community and 500 students each from SC, ST, and minority groups, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting education and providing equal opportunities for all students.

This comprehensive approach reflects Telangana’s dedication to enhancing educational infrastructure and ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds receive the support they need to succeed academically and professionally.
