BRS MLA T Harish Rao Criticizes School Closures in CM Revanth’s Constituency
Hyderabad On Wednesday, August 28, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA T Harish Rao expressed strong disapproval over the closure of schools in Kodangal, the constituency of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Rao described the situation as a “matter of shame,” highlighting that one school in the area had been closed for over two weeks due to a shortage of teachers, with no government intervention to rectify the issue.
Rao criticized the discrepancy between the promises made by the Congress party in its manifesto and the current reality. “The Congress had pledged to establish an international school in every mandal, yet we see existing government schools being shut down, depriving underprivileged children of essential education,” Rao remarked.
He further emphasized that, as Chief Minister and head of the education ministry, Revanth Reddy’s handling of the situation reflects poorly on his leadership.
In a post on X, Rao called for urgent measures, including the appointment of education volunteers to prevent additional school closures. He also urged the reopening of the affected schools and the implementation of strategies to ensure continuous education for students.
Rao’s comments follow his earlier criticism of the government’s decision to close 43 schools across Telangana due to a teacher shortage. He has called for immediate action to reopen these schools and appoint ad-hoc teachers, particularly in tribal areas.
“I am appealing to the Chief Minister to address the situation promptly by reopening the closed schools and appointing education volunteers until permanent teachers can be hired,” Rao stated in his post on X.
