PM Modi Expresses Concern Over Gaza Humanitarian Situation in Meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas
New York: During his visit to New York for the UN General Assembly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, addressing the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza.
Modi emphasized India’s support for the swift restoration of peace and stability in the region and highlighted the long-standing friendship between India and Palestine.
“Met President Mahmoud Abbas in New York. Reiterated India’s support for early restoration of peace and stability in the region,” Modi stated on X.
The Prime Minister’s discussions come amid significant unrest, with the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs reporting over 41,000 Palestinian deaths since October 2023. Modi has consistently advocated for a two-state solution through direct negotiations as a means to achieve lasting peace in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
Modi’s agenda during the trip also included addressing the Indian-American community and participating in a tech leaders roundtable, showcasing India’s growing role in global affairs.
