Telangana Government Launches ‘Telangana Darshini’ School Tour Initiative
The Telangana government’s Tourism and Culture department has unveiled an exciting initiative aimed at immersing students in the state’s rich heritage. Named ‘Telangana Darshini,’ this program will provide state-sponsored tour opportunities for students from class 2 through undergraduate levels.
The initiative is structured into four distinct categories, each tailored to different age groups and distances from educational institutions:
- Category 1: Students from classes 2 to 4 will embark on day trips to nearby monuments or heritage sites within their village or mandal.
- Category 2: Students in classes 5 to 8 will take day trips to heritage sites located 20-30 km away.
- Category 3: Students in classes 9 to intermediate will have the chance to visit sites 50-70 km away on two-day excursions.
- Category 4: Undergraduate students will explore locations throughout the state, outside their district, over a four-day trip.
The government estimates an expenditure of Rs 12.10 crore to facilitate trips for approximately 100,000 students. Funding for these tours will come from the tourism, education, SC development, tribal welfare, backward classes welfare, environment and forest, and science and technology departments, utilizing their available resources.
This initiative not only aims to enrich students’ understanding of Telangana’s cultural heritage but is also expected to stimulate local economies and businesses by encouraging tourism within the state.
