BRS Executive President, K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), criticized the Musi River beautification project, alleging it was designed to displace nearly 2 lakh people. Touring the Musi catchment areas in Amberpet, Hyderabad, alongside party leaders, KTR met with affected residents and expressed concern over their plight.
He condemned CM Revanth Reddy, accusing him of targeting the poor in retaliation for voting for BRS (Bharata Rashtra Samiti) in Hyderabad. KTR claimed that the ongoing demolitions were causing widespread anxiety, with residents living in fear of bulldozers arriving at their doorsteps. “Why are those responsible, like Revanth Reddy and Kishan Reddy, absent when the homes of the underprivileged are at risk?” he questioned.
KTR emphasized that the Musi project, halted in the past to protect the poor, was now being revived with half of the funding drawn from the state budget. He reassured residents that BRS would support them, and their concerns would be addressed.
During the tour, Youth Congress leaders blocked KTR’s convoy, demanding an apology to Minister Konda Surekha. Police quickly intervened to disperse the protesters.
