Kishor Predicts JD(U) Will Struggle in Upcoming Bihar Elections, Mocking Kumar’s 220 Seat Claim

Patna: Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraaj Party, took aim at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ambitious claim of winning 220 seats in the next Assembly elections. Kishor dismissed this assertion, forecasting that the Janata Dal (United) would be hard-pressed to secure even 20 seats.

In a statement to the media, Kishor highlighted the growing disillusionment among Bihar’s electorate, emphasizing a desire to hold Kumar accountable for what he termed an “Officer Raj” governance style, marked by bureaucratic control and a lack of accountability.

Kishor argued that whether the JD(U) aligns with the NDA or the Grand Alliance, its electoral prospects remain bleak. He further suggested that the BJP perceives Kumar as a political liability, asserting that no party would want to support him in the upcoming elections.

The political strategist, who has been openly critical of Kumar since his departure from the JD(U), indicated that the current political climate could force the BJP to back Kumar as their chief ministerial candidate for the 2025 Bihar elections. He challenged the BJP to make Kumar their face for the election, predicting that they would face similar setbacks as the JD(U) did in 2020, when its seat count fell sharply.

Kishor accused both the JD(U) and BJP of neglecting the issues facing Bihar’s youth, asserting that the BJP’s alliance with Kumar was driven by a desire for political gains in Delhi, ultimately at the expense of Bihar’s welfare.

Kumar had claimed during a recent meeting that the NDA would emerge victorious with 220 seats, a statement Kishor characterized as out of touch with public sentiment. With widespread dissatisfaction directed towards Kumar’s administration, Kishor’s comments underscore the growing tensions among political factions in Bihar as the state gears up for its next electoral battle.
