G.N. Saibaba’s Legacy: A Call for Human Rights Advocacy After His Untimely Passing
Former Delhi University professor G.N. Saibaba’s wife, Vasantha Kumari, shared that their time together after his release from prison was overshadowed by hospital visits, limiting their discussions on future plans. Saibaba, who had been imprisoned for a decade due to alleged Maoist links, passed away on Saturday from complications following gallbladder surgery.
Vasantha described his ten years of incarceration in a high-security ‘anda cell’ as “cruel,” significantly impacting his health. After his release seven months ago, their conversations about future aspirations were cut short by ongoing medical issues.
In light of his passing, Vasantha urged supporters to continue advocating for human rights in honor of her husband’s legacy. The family announced their decision to donate his body to a hospital, while his eyes were previously donated to the LV Prasad Eye Hospital.
