KTR Files ₹100 Crore Defamation Suit Against Telangana Minister Konda Surekha
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao (KTR) has filed a ₹100 crore defamation case against Telangana environment minister Konda Surekha, following her allegations linking him to the divorce of actors Naga Chaitanya and Samantha.
KTR took to X to express his frustration, stating, “For far too long, these attacks and attempts to indulge in character assassination through whisper campaigns and social media have gone unchecked, but not anymore.” He emphasized that the lawsuit aims to deter those who spread baseless claims under the guise of political criticism.
The controversy ignited on October 3 when Konda Surekha made derogatory remarks against KTR, accusing him of blackmailing film personalities. Prior to the lawsuit, KTR sent a legal notice demanding an apology and retraction of her statements. However, the minister persisted with her claims.
In a related development, actor Nagarjuna, father of Naga Chaitanya, also filed a defamation petition against Konda Surekha in Hyderabad city civil court. While the minister has since apologized to Samantha and retracted her speculations about their divorce, she has not withdrawn her statements regarding KTR and Nagarjuna.
The unfolding situation highlights the intersection of politics and personal lives in the public eye, raising questions about accountability and the limits of political discourse.
