Rahul Gandhi to Attend DISHA Meeting and Launch Development Projects in Raebareli
Lucknow: Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled to attend the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting in his parliamentary constituency of Raebareli, Uttar Pradesh, on Tuesday.
Rahul Gandhi arrived in Lucknow early this morning before heading directly to his constituency, where he will engage in several key local events. His first stop will be the inauguration of a beautification project at the Degree College intersection, an initiative undertaken by the Raebareli municipal corporation. The project aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal and infrastructure of the area, which has been a focal point for the local government.
Following the inauguration, Gandhi will lay the foundation stone for new roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). This initiative is part of the government’s effort to improve rural road infrastructure and connectivity, particularly in the remote areas of the constituency.
Later in the day, Gandhi will participate in the DISHA meeting, which is focused on discussing public welfare schemes, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), and other development programs that benefit the rural population. This meeting will provide a platform for the local administration and the representatives to review the progress of these schemes and plan their future course of action.
The meeting will be particularly significant as it marks Rahul Gandhi’s first official interaction with local officials since assuming his role as an MP. DISHA meetings, as per the Union Ministry of Rural Development, are designed to foster better coordination between Members of Parliament, state legislatures, and local governments to ensure the efficient implementation of welfare and development schemes.
Gandhi’s visit underscores his continued focus on addressing local issues and ensuring the welfare of his constituents in Raebareli. It also aligns with the Congress party’s broader vision for rural development and infrastructure improvement in Uttar Pradesh.
