Rahul Gandhi Backs Sister Priyanka in Wayanad By-election, Urges Voters to Support Her
New Delhi: As voting began in the high-profile Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency by-election, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi extended his strong support for his sister, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, urging voters to back her in her bid to represent the region. Rahul, who previously represented Wayanad in Parliament, took to social media to connect with the electorate and express confidence in Priyanka’s ability to serve the constituency effectively.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Rahul Gandhi called Priyanka “your sister, your daughter, and your advocate” and assured the people of Wayanad that she would be more than just a representative. He urged them to come out in full force to vote and support her, emphasizing that she would work towards unlocking the full potential of Wayanad. “I am confident she will help unlock Wayanad’s full potential. I urge all of you to come out, vote, and support her. Let’s ensure a resounding victory together,” Rahul wrote.
Earlier in the day, Priyanka Gandhi also shared a heartfelt message with the people of Wayanad. She expressed her gratitude for the love and support she had received and called on the electorate to exercise their “precious right of consent” by voting. “My dear brothers and sisters in Wayanad, thank you from the heart for your love and support. Today is the judgment day of democracy,” Priyanka posted on X. She encouraged people to visit the polling booths and cast their votes, highlighting that the strength of democracy lies in the act of voting.
Polling in Wayanad started promptly at 7 AM, with voters seen lining up at various polling stations across the constituency. Priyanka Gandhi visited several polling booths throughout the day, meeting with supporters and encouraging high voter turnout. Her visits were aimed at motivating residents to participate in the democratic process and ensure a strong turnout for the by-election.
With both Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi actively involved in the campaign, the election is expected to be a closely watched contest, particularly given the prominence of the Gandhi family in the region’s political landscape.
