BRS Leaders Hold Nightly Vigils Amid Fears of KTR’s Arrest Over Vikarabad Incident

Hyderabad: In a show of solidarity and concern, leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have been gathering at the residence of party chief K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) for nightly vigils over the past three nights. The high-profile gatherings, which include senior figures such as T Harish Rao, are in response to growing fears over the potential arrest of KTR, the party’s working president, in connection with the recent violent incident in Lagcherla, Vikarabad.

Strategising Against Potential Arrests

As political tensions rise, BRS leaders are intensifying efforts to prevent any police action against KTR. Party officials have been actively communicating with KCR and discussing possible strategies, including engagement with Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to mitigate the situation. According to reports, the party is working on a coordinated response to deal with the fallout from the incident and the ongoing police investigation.

The Vikarabad Violence

The incident in question took place on November 11 during a public hearing in Lagcherla, Vikarabad, on a land acquisition for a pharmaceutical unit. A violent attack on government officials, including Vikarabad District Collector Pratheek Jain, disrupted the proceedings. The attack resulted in injuries to several officials and raised concerns about the safety of public servants.

The BRS party, particularly KTR, has come under scrutiny following the violence. According to police reports, former BRS legislator Patnam Narender Reddy allegedly confessed to orchestrating the attack as part of a broader “criminal conspiracy” aimed at destabilising the Telangana government for political reasons.

Accusations and Political Fallout

The remand report has further fueled political speculation, claiming that Narender Reddy acted under the direction of KTR and other senior BRS leaders. These serious allegations have heightened the tension within the party and among its supporters, with growing concern about potential arrests of key party figures, including KTR.

As the situation continues to unfold, BRS leaders are bracing for further political and legal challenges. The party remains in damage control mode, working to prevent the situation from escalating further, while the Telangana government faces mounting pressure to address the violence and investigate those responsible for the attack.

The political ramifications of this incident could extend beyond Vikarabad, as it threatens to impact the BRS’s standing in Telangana’s volatile political landscape, just ahead of the upcoming elections.
