IAS Officers’ Institute Demands Apology from K.T. Rama Rao Over Remarks Against Rajanna Sircilla Collector

Hyderabad, Nov 28 – The Telangana IAS Officers’ Institute (TGIASO) has called for an apology from Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao over his controversial remarks against Rajanna Sircilla district Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha. The Institute condemned the MLA’s comments, which questioned the integrity and impartiality of the officer.

The TGIASO passed a resolution expressing strong disapproval of the remarks made by Rama Rao, who accused the Collector of being aligned with the Congress party. The resolution stated, “It is disturbing to note that it is becoming a norm to cast aspersions on public servants by persons occupying responsible public offices.” The IAS officers’ body emphasized the importance of upholding the dignity of civil servants, particularly those in high-ranking administrative positions.

The resolution further stated that the personal attack on Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha was unwarranted and undermined the dignity of an officer entrusted with significant responsibilities within the state administration. “In an unfortunate public remark, the Collector was personally targeted and belittled in a manner that undermines the dignity of an officer holding such an important position,” the statement read.

The TGIASO also underscored the importance of impartiality in governance, emphasizing that public servants work tirelessly to serve the people and ensure effective governance, often under challenging circumstances. The resolution concluded by calling for the retraction of the statements and demanding an apology from K.T. Rama Rao.

This call for an apology follows earlier condemnations from the Telangana IPS Officers’ Association, which also criticized the baseless allegations leveled against the Collector. The IPS Association described the remarks as a direct affront to the principles of governance, emphasizing that civil servants are duty-bound to serve the public without bias or fear, and such unfounded attacks undermine democratic institutions.

The controversy erupted after K.T. Rama Rao made public accusations against Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha on Tuesday. The BRS leader alleged that Jha had been encouraging BRS activists to join the Congress party and accused the officer of acting like a Congress worker. Rama Rao’s comments included a threat, stating, “Collectors and other officers, who were working as Congress activists, would be taught a befitting lesson once the BRS returned to power.”

This incident has sparked a broader debate over the relationship between politicians and civil servants in Telangana, with multiple associations of government officers now publicly condemning the remarks and calling for greater respect for the integrity and impartiality of civil services.
