TGSRTC Announces 6,432 Special Buses for Sankranti Festivities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, Dec 31: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has revealed its plans to operate 6,432 special buses during the Sankranti festival, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free travel experience for passengers. This year, the TGSRTC is taking extra measures to meet the demand for travel to various destinations across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from January 9 to January 15.
A total of 557 special services will be available for advance reservations, with electric buses also planned for certain routes. The buses will depart from key points across Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, Central Bus Station, Aramghar, KPHB, Bowenpalli, Gachibowli, Uppal X Roads, and LB Nagar X Roads. These routes will be equipped with ample facilities to cater to the large crowds expected during the festival.
The TGSRTC had previously operated 5,246 buses in 2024 due to a surge in passenger demand, and with the experience gained from that, it has decided to increase the number of buses to 6,432 this year. Special officers have been appointed to manage bus operations based on the anticipated rush.
In addition to servicing major towns and cities in Andhra Pradesh, including Amalapuram, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, and Vijayawada, buses will also be arranged for passengers returning to Hyderabad after the festival. Special efforts are being made to include electric buses for routes from Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Warangal.
The TGSRTC has also made arrangements to ensure the comfort of passengers at embarkation points, including the installation of pandals, tents, mobile toilets, and a public address system. Furthermore, women passengers will benefit from the Mahalakshmi scheme, which offers free travel in Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary, and Metro Express buses by collecting zero tickets.
TGSRTC has urged passengers to avoid traveling in private vehicles and instead opt for the special buses, ensuring safe and convenient travel during the festival. Tickets for the special buses can be reserved through the official TGSRTC website or by calling the customer service numbers provided.
This initiative by TGSRTC is expected to alleviate the usual rush of passengers during Sankranti, making it easier for people to travel to their hometowns and celebrate the festival with family.
