Ramya Seeks Court’s Intervention for Removal of Scenes from ‘Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare’
Kannada actress and former Mysuru MP Ramya has approached the Commercial Court seeking the removal of her scenes from the recently released film Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare. The actress claims that her footage was used in the movie’s trailer and main feature without her consent.
In a petition filed on January 7, Ramya expressed that her involvement in the film was never officially confirmed, and her scenes were included without prior knowledge or permission. The actress specifically requested the court to instruct the filmmakers to remove her clips from both the movie and its promotional material. Furthermore, Ramya has demanded compensation amounting to one crore rupees, claiming the unauthorized use of her footage has harmed her reputation and caused distress.
Ramya also revealed that she had made several attempts to contact the film’s producers to request the removal of her footage, but to no avail. As a result, she filed the petition, demanding immediate action. However, Ramya made it clear that she would withdraw her case if the filmmakers complied with her request and removed the scenes promptly.
Directed by Nithin Krishnamurthy, Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare is a black comedy-drama. While Ramya had previously sought to prevent the film’s release altogether, her petition was dismissed, and the movie was released without any further legal hurdles.
The case has drawn significant attention in the Kannada film industry, with many closely following the legal proceedings. If the court rules in favor of Ramya, it could set a precedent for the rights of actors regarding the unauthorized use of their footage in films.
