Pawan Kalyan Minimizes Sankranti Celebrations in Pithapuram Following Tirupati Tragedy
Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, while continuing his work in Pithapuram, announced that he would be minimizing the Sankranti celebrations in his native constituency as a mark of respect following the tragic loss of lives in the recent Tirupati stampede. Despite his decision to reduce the festivities, Pawan Kalyan remained committed to fostering a celebratory spirit in his constituency by attending the Palle Panduga-Panchayati Varotsavalu event in Pithapuram.
During the event, Pawan Kalyan received a warm and grand welcome from the public, who raised slogans in appreciation of him. He took part in the ceremonial Purna Kumbha Swagatham and inaugurated 12,500 Gokulams (cow sheds) across the state. These Gokulams were built under the Employment Guarantee Scheme to assist dairy farmers with animal management, thereby promoting financial empowerment. Kakinada district already boasts 292 Gokulams, with more than 1,000 slated to be constructed in the upcoming year.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of accountability, stating that if any mishaps occur, the entire official machinery must accept responsibility. “Leadership is about collective responsibility,” he remarked. Pawan Kalyan also took the opportunity to tender an apology to the public, acknowledging that small mistakes had disrupted the system and led to the unfortunate incident in Tirupati.
Further, he urged youth and fans to behave appropriately in such sensitive times. He expressed that raising movie-related slogans at such moments, especially when visiting locations where tragic incidents had occurred, would be inappropriate. Additionally, he called upon TTD chairman BR Naidu and JEO Venkaiah Chowdary to issue public apologies, urging them to take responsibility for the mishap.
Despite the subdued nature of the Sankranti celebrations in light of the tragedy, Pawan Kalyan continued to participate in the cultural programs organized as part of the Palle Panduga festivities, which included performances by Haridasulu, Gangireddulu, and Sodi Attamma.
