Yuvraj Singh Suggests Domestic Cricket to Help Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma Regain Form
Star Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma have faced intense scrutiny over their recent performances, as both have struggled to find their rhythm during recent tours against Australia and the preceding home series against New Zealand. Despite their efforts to regain form, the duo has been unable to make a significant impact, which has contributed to India’s consecutive defeats.
Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has weighed in on the situation, offering valuable advice for the two star players to rediscover their form. Yuvraj stressed that the best way for both Kohli and Rohit to regain their confidence is by participating in domestic cricket. He emphasized that domestic cricket offers an unmatched practice ground for players to get back into the groove and regain their rhythm. “The only way to regain form is by playing domestic cricket. Nothing compares to the confidence that comes from performing in such matches,” Yuvraj said, dismissing alternative methods as less effective.
Reflecting on India’s recent losses, Yuvraj acknowledged the inevitable cycle of praise and criticism that accompanies the team’s victories and defeats. While expressing his disappointment over the recent series results, he reminded critics of Rohit’s numerous accomplishments. Yuvraj praised Rohit’s leadership, noting that he had successfully led India to a T20 World Cup victory and had guided the ODI team to the finals. Furthermore, he lauded Rohit’s IPL success, where he has led the Mumbai Indians to five titles.
However, Yuvraj did not shy away from acknowledging the difficulties faced by the Indian team, particularly the 0-3 loss to New Zealand on home soil, calling it especially tough to accept.
As the Ranji Trophy is set to begin on January 23, Rohit Sharma has already joined Mumbai’s practice sessions in preparation. Several prominent players, including Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shubman Gill, are also gearing up to represent their respective teams in the tournament. However, there has been no confirmation regarding Virat Kohli’s participation in the domestic matches.
With the commencement of the Ranji Trophy approaching, all eyes will be on how both Kohli and Rohit perform, as they look to bounce back from their recent struggles and regain their best form ahead of upcoming international challenges.
