Vijaya Sai Reddy Resigns from Rajya Sabha, Clarifies Personal Reasons Behind Decision
Vijaya Sai Reddy, the former Member of Parliament and prominent leader of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), announced his resignation from the Rajya Sabha on Saturday, citing personal reasons rather than political motives or case dismissals. Addressing the media, Reddy emphasized that his decision was not influenced by external pressures but was made after careful consideration.
“I am a person of faith. I neither lie nor deceive. I will face the cases against me with courage and have no fear of anything or anyone,” he declared. Reddy’s resignation letter was submitted to the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Vice President), who approved it promptly. He revealed that prior to finalizing his decision, he had a conversation with YSRCP President Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Reddy explained that he would be stepping away from active politics, clarifying that his decision was solely aimed at allowing a more capable individual to take his place for the benefit of the public and the state. He added that he has no business interests and that his connection with the Y.S. family remains strong, emphasizing that there have never been any disputes.
Reddy also addressed the rumors surrounding his resignation, urging the media to cease spreading false information. He specifically denied having any association with K.V. Rao beyond occasional greetings.
Reflecting on his time in politics, Reddy acknowledged the significant changes in the political landscape. He admitted that he felt unable to serve the state and the party effectively under the current circumstances, leading to his decision to resign.
In regards to the ongoing Enforcement Directorate (ED) case concerning the Kakinada Port issue, Reddy reaffirmed his innocence. “I swear on my children that I have no involvement in the Kakinada Port affair,” he stated.
Though he confirmed his resignation as an MP, Reddy clarified that he has not yet resigned from the YSR Congress Party but plans to do so soon. He also revealed his limited personal assets, which include properties in Bengaluru, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam, emphasizing that he owns no other significant assets.
Reddy’s resignation marks the end of a notable chapter in his political career, as he moves forward with his decision to focus on personal matters.
