Vijay’s Political Journey: TVK Sets Its Sights on Tamil Nadu Elections with Prashant Kishor’s Expertise

Tamil film icon Vijay, who recently revealed his plans to enter the political arena, is gearing up to contest in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Although the polls are over a year away, Vijay and his newly formed party, Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK), have already begun laying the groundwork for their campaign. In a significant move, TVK leaders have held discussions with political strategist Prashant Kishor, a development that has sparked considerable political discourse within the state.

There is growing speculation that Prashant Kishor might assume an advisory position with Vijay’s party, TVK. Reports also suggest that Kishor has estimated TVK’s potential vote share to be between 15% and 20%. As a result, strategies are being developed to boost the party’s electoral prospects and present a formidable challenge to Tamil Nadu’s dominant political forces. However, many established political parties in the state have dismissed TVK’s engagement with Kishor as inconsequential.

DMK leader and state minister Sekarbabu commented that new parties often project high vote shares but ultimately, the DMK remains confident of victory. He reiterated his belief that MK Stalin would continue as Chief Minister. DMK leader Kanimozhi further stated that the party had no objections to Kishor offering his expertise to another political party.

Other political leaders have been more skeptical. Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Balakrishnan remarked that cinematic glamour alone would not guarantee electoral success. Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief Seeman expressed his lack of confidence in Kishor’s strategies.

Premalatha Vijayakanth, a leader from the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), emphasized that the success of TVK would ultimately depend on Vijay’s leadership. She also clarified that DMDK remains aligned with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) and that any potential collaboration with Vijay’s party would be initiated by TVK.

As the countdown to the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections continues, all eyes will be on how Vijay, with the support of Prashant Kishor, navigates the state’s competitive political landscape. Whether TVK can emerge as a viable political force in Tamil Nadu remains to be seen, but their strategic moves have certainly captured the attention of both political analysts and the public alike.
