Andhra Pradesh Confirms First Human Case of Bird Flu in Eluru District
Authorities in Andhra Pradesh have confirmed the first reported human case of bird flu in the state, in the Eluru district. The infected individual, who resides near a poultry farm in the Unguturu Mandal area, has been identified by the state’s health department. In response to the confirmed case, district officials have taken swift precautionary measures, including the establishment of a special medical camp to monitor individuals showing symptoms of bird flu. Health teams are actively collecting samples for laboratory testing to track the spread of the virus.
The bird flu outbreak has been particularly severe in the twin Godavari districts as well as the erstwhile Krishna district, with significant poultry losses reported. In Kanuru, bird flu has already been detected in poultry, and over five million chickens have reportedly died in the Godavari districts alone due to the virus.
In light of the outbreak, health officials have advised the public to avoid consuming chicken for the time being. This precautionary advice, coupled with widespread discussions on social media platforms, has caused a noticeable decline in chicken sales, leading to a reduction in poultry prices across the Telugu-speaking states.
The government is taking steps to prevent further spread of the virus, and authorities have urged people to remain vigilant and adhere to health guidelines. As of now, the situation is being closely monitored, and officials are working to ensure public safety and prevent further outbreaks.
