Pakistan Prepares for ICC Champions Trophy 2025 After 29 Years

Pakistan is set to host an International Cricket Council (ICC) event for the first time in nearly 29 years, as the country prepares to welcome the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made significant preparations for the tournament, focusing on both infrastructure and security to ensure a smooth and successful event.

Major stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi have undergone extensive renovations in preparation for the matches. In addition to infrastructure improvements, the PCB has prioritized security, deploying 12,000 security personnel to safeguard the event. This includes 18 senior officers, 54 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), 135 inspectors, 1,200 upper subordinates, and 10,556 constables, along with 200 female officers to enhance security measures.

To ensure seamless transportation for players and officials, Pakistan has arranged nine special chartered flights operating between Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad.

The ICC Champions Trophy, which begins today and runs until March 9, follows a hybrid model, with matches taking place in both Pakistan and Dubai. The Indian cricket team will play all of its matches in Dubai, while Pakistan faces New Zealand in the opening match in Karachi. This edition of the tournament marks a significant milestone in Pakistan’s cricketing history, as the country looks to showcase its readiness to host international events once again.
