Telangana CM Announces Empowerment Plans for Women: High-Quality Sarees, Petrol Bunks, and More
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has unveiled a set of initiatives aimed at empowering women in the state, including distributing high-quality sarees and creating opportunities for financial independence. Speaking at a function in Appakpalle village, Narayanpet district, he criticized the previous government for providing poor-quality sarees, which were often used as scarecrows in farmlands. Revanth Reddy assured that his administration would provide sarees equivalent to those given by families to their sisters during festivals.
The CM also revealed plans to strengthen women’s self-help groups (SHGs) by allocating ₹1,000 crore annually, benefiting 67 lakh women in these groups. Two sarees will be provided to each SHG member every year. In addition, Revanth Reddy announced initiatives such as setting up spaces at Shilparamam in Hyderabad for women to sell handmade products and establishing petrol bunks for women’s federations on government land across districts. These efforts aim to make women financially self-sufficient.
The Chief Minister also urged women to take an active role in improving rural schools, emphasizing that the community must manage schools to ensure proper utilization of government funds.
