Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has accused Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of making “unconstitutional” and “blatant” electoral promises in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

The BRS spokesperson, Dasoju Sravan, shared a video in which Revanth Reddy pledges to waive crop loans by August 15, invoking a promise on Hindu Goddess Saraswati. Sravan criticized the Chief Election Officer (CEO) of Telangana for “negligence” and questioned the Election Commission’s (EC) lack of intervention in the matter.

“Shri Revanth Reddy @revanth_anumula is consistently and flagrantly making electoral promises in the name of God during the ongoing campaign, thereby violating and undermining the Model Code of Conduct and the Representation of People’s Act, 1951. Regrettably, @CEO_Telangana is acting merely as a spectator, failing to enforce the MCC and initiate suo moto cases against @TelanganaCMO. Why is there such negligence by @ECISVEEP? Is there an underlying association with @revanth_anumula? We urge prompt action to uphold fair and free elections and electoral integrity,” Sravan stated in a post on social media platform X.

Telangana is scheduled to vote in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 13, as announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Shri Revanth Reddy @revanth_anumula is unconstitutionally and brazenly making poll promises continually in the name of GOD during the
on-going elections campaign violating and ridiculing the model code of conduct and the representation of people’s act, 1951..

And astonishingly… https://t.co/Y0m3k3QMcu
