Mumbai: The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has recovered two pistols, magazines, and ammunition from the Tapi River in Gujarat during an ongoing search operation to locate the weapons reportedly used in the firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence, an official confirmed on Tuesday.
The search operation, initiated on Monday, has led to the recovery of two pistols, three magazines, and 13 bullets, the official stated.
A team comprising 12 officials, including ‘encounter specialist’ Senior Police Inspector Daya Nayak, continues to conduct the search at the location. Scuba divers are assisting in the operation, the official added.
On April 14, two suspects, Vicky Gupta (24) and Sagar Pal (21), allegedly fired shots outside Salman Khan’s residence at Galaxy Apartment in Mumbai’s Bandra area before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
Based on technical surveillance, the suspects were apprehended on April 16 at a temple in Mata No Madh near Bhuj town, Gujarat, by a joint team of the Mumbai and Kutch Police. They were subsequently transferred to the custody of the Mumbai Police for further investigation.
The suspects claimed to have received instructions from the Bishnoi brothers. Lawrence Bishnoi is currently incarcerated in Sabarmati Central Prison, Gujarat, for a separate case, while his brother is believed to be residing in either Canada or the US, a police official previously mentioned.
