Telangana Government Announces DA Hike for TSRTC Employees and Launches Indira Mahila Shakti Bus Service

Telangana’s Transport and BC Welfare Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar, has announced a 2.5% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for the employees of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The revised DA, effective from tomorrow, marks a significant financial gesture for the TSRTC employees and is set to incur an additional ₹3.6 crore per month for the corporation.

The announcement came during a press conference where Minister Prabhakar highlighted the government’s ongoing commitment to women’s empowerment. He further emphasized that the increase in DA coincides with International Women’s Day, reflecting the government’s dedication to uplift and support its workforce.

Additionally, the government will launch the “Indira Mahila Shakti” bus service tomorrow. This initiative, aimed at financially empowering women in the state, will initially introduce 150 buses operated by women’s federations, Mandal Mahila Samakhya (Mandal Women’s Federation). The project is expected to expand in two phases, with plans to increase the fleet to 600 buses. In the second phase, agreements will be made to bring 450 additional buses into operation.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to inaugurate the “Indira Mahila Shakti” buses, which are expected to provide significant opportunities for women, helping them engage in entrepreneurial activities and boosting their economic independence.

With these initiatives, the Telangana government is underlining its efforts to foster both economic welfare and gender equality, marking International Women’s Day with impactful policies aimed at creating more inclusive growth.
