Nitish Reddy Fully Recovers from Injury, Boosting Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2025
Sunrisers Hyderabad has received a significant boost ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, as Telugu cricketer Nitish Reddy has fully recovered from his muscle injury. Reddy, who missed the Champions Trophy due to this injury, has passed the Yo-Yo fitness test with a score of 18, making him eligible to rejoin the squad for the upcoming season.
Reddy’s return is a major asset for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who reached the IPL final last season but fell short against Kolkata Knight Riders. This year, the team is looking stronger in both their batting and bowling departments, and Reddy’s recovery adds further depth to their lineup.
The IPL 2025 season is scheduled to begin on March 22, and Sunrisers Hyderabad had retained Reddy during the IPL mega auction. He will join the team’s pre-tournament camp starting today. In the previous season, Reddy was a standout performer, amassing 303 runs and taking three wickets in 13 matches.
Reddy’s recovery was confirmed after he participated in a practice match on Friday, where he bowled without any discomfort, signaling that he is ready to play. The 25-year-old cricketer, who made his international debut for India in a T20 match against Bangladesh, also holds the distinction of becoming the first Indian player to score a century batting at No. 8 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia last year.
While Reddy struggled in his debut IPL season in 2023, failing to make an impact in his two appearances, he emerged as a key player for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the following edition. His contribution in the 2024 season was crucial in their run to the final, and his full recovery is expected to further elevate the team’s performance in IPL 2025.
