Chandrababu Naidu Unveils Vision for Andhra Pradesh’s Development at District Collectors’ Conference
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his commitment to the restoration and development of Andhra Pradesh, emphasizing that his government has worked relentlessly over the past nine months to recover from the setbacks caused by the previous administration’s mismanagement. Speaking at the third two-day district collectors’ conference at the Secretariat, Naidu urged officials to work diligently and ensure that welfare and development programs reach the people effectively.
Focus on Efficient Delivery of Welfare Programs
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of delivering welfare benefits with dignity and respect, stressing that these should not be viewed as handouts but as rightful entitlements for the people. “We are monitoring every initiative closely, with feedback from citizens on 22 essential services to strengthen public trust,” Naidu said, urging officials to act with accountability and sincerity.
Mega DSC Notification in April
Naidu announced the release of the District Selection Committee (DSC) notification in the first week of April, aimed at filling 16,347 teacher positions. Reaffirming his commitment to providing employment, he noted that the recruitment process would be completed before the new academic year begins. He also praised the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for setting a record of recruiting 1.5 lakh teachers in a single drive during its previous tenure.
Vision for Swarnandhra 2047
The Chief Minister unveiled the “Swarnandhra 2047” vision, which lays out ten key principles for the state’s growth, emphasizing structured planning across various administrative levels. District collectors will chair vision execution committees, with the aim to implement sustainable development across the state. Infrastructure projects worth ₹55,000 crore, including national highways, are progressing and are expected to be completed within two years.
Focus on Good Governance and Economic Self-Reliance
Chandrababu Naidu highlighted that good governance relies on three pillars: welfare, development, and self-reliance. He criticized the previous government for accumulating a debt of ₹9.74 lakh crore, emphasizing that welfare programs must be supported by revenue generation rather than borrowing. Naidu also pointed out the success of welfare initiatives, such as pension increases and financial assistance for house construction.
Polavaram and Amaravati Development
The Chief Minister assured that the Polavaram project is back on track and is expected to be completed by 2027. He also outlined the progress of the Amaravati capital city development, with funding support sought from international financial institutions like the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Amaravati is being developed as a self-financed urban model with global recognition in mind.
Infrastructure and Economic Growth Initiatives
Naidu emphasized ongoing infrastructure development, including road repairs and solar rooftop installations. Additionally, significant strides are being made in the education sector, with 40,000 projects launched under the “Pallevelugu” program. The government has also rolled out various schemes for students and families, such as the “Thalli Ki Vandanam” scheme.
Targeting 15% GSDP Growth
Chandrababu Naidu set an ambitious target for the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth, aiming for a 15% increase in the coming year. He noted that Andhra Pradesh’s GSDP growth had rebounded to 12.02% in 2024-25 after a drop in the previous years. The long-term goal is to establish a ₹308 lakh crore economy by 2047, with a per capita income target of ₹54.60 lakh.
Commitment to Agriculture, Green Energy, and Tourism
Naidu emphasized the importance of strengthening agriculture, noting that Rayalaseema has emerged as a high-income region, and Anantapur has become one of the state’s top economies. He also highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s leadership in the solar, wind, and pumped-storage energy sectors, with ₹10 lakh crore in green energy investments expected to create 7.5 lakh jobs.
Strengthening Law and Order
The Chief Minister urged officials to work on improving revenue collection, especially recovering GST arrears, and streamlining municipal governance to address public grievances effectively. He also directed district collectors to collaborate with law enforcement to curb anti-social activities and drug trafficking.
