BCCI Reschedules IPL 2025 Match Between KKR and LSG Due to Ram Navami Festivities
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the rescheduling of Match No. 19 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The match, originally scheduled for Sunday, April 6, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, has been moved due to a request from the Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) regarding security concerns surrounding the festivities of Ram Navami.
The authorities recommended moving the game to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, with the match set to be played in the afternoon at 3:30 PM IST. The rest of the schedule remains unaffected, and the April 6 match day will now feature a single-header, with Sunrisers Hyderabad hosting Gujarat Titans at 7:30 PM (Match No. 20), as originally planned.
Tuesday, April 8, will be a double-header match day. The KKR vs. LSG fixture will be held in the afternoon, followed by the Punjab Kings hosting Chennai Super Kings (Match No. 22) in New Chandigarh in the evening.
Both KKR and LSG have had a mixed start to the 2025 IPL season. KKR, the defending champions, lost their opening game against Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets at Eden Gardens but bounced back with a six-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. Similarly, Lucknow Super Giants suffered a narrow defeat in their opener against Delhi Capitals but secured a dominant win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in their second match, chasing down 191 with 23 balls to spare.
