Pawan Kalyan Pays Tribute to Pahalgam Terror Attack Victim in Kavali, Condemns Brutality
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan visited Kavali town in Nellore district on Thursday to pay his last respects to Somishetty Madhusudhan Rao, a victim of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians.
The Jana Sena Party chief laid a wreath on the mortal remains of the 42-year-old software engineer, who had been residing in Bengaluru and was on vacation with his family in Kashmir when the tragedy occurred. Rao was reportedly killed in front of his wife and two minor children, a detail that has deeply shaken the nation.
Accompanied by Ministers Nadendla Manohar, Anam Ramnarayan Reddy, and Sathya Kumar, Pawan Kalyan consoled the grieving family and assured them of the state’s support during this moment of profound loss.
“Terror Has No Place in a Civilized Society”
Speaking to the media, Pawan Kalyan strongly condemned the terror attack, calling for a resolute and uncompromising stance against terrorism. “Those responsible for this act of brutality must be eliminated, wherever they may be. The pain and trauma inflicted on Madhusudhan’s family is unimaginable,” he said.
Earlier, the Deputy CM expressed his condolences on social media, announcing a three-day mourning period across the Telugu states. “Our party flag will fly at half-mast. Bharat’s unity cannot be broken by terror. I am confident that our leadership will respond with strength and purpose. Together, we will overcome. Together, we will heal,” he posted.
Madhusudhan’s Final Journey
Madhusudhan Rao’s mortal remains arrived in Chennai on Wednesday night and were transported by road to Kavali, his hometown. The news of his death was withheld from his elderly parents, Tirupal and Padmavathi, until the body arrived. They were told he was only injured in the attack. Madhusudhan, their only son, hailed from a humble background—his parents run a banana trading business in the town.
The techie had been settled in Bengaluru for over 12 years and had traveled to Kashmir with his wife, Kamakshi, and their two children.
Andhra Pradesh Mourns Two Sons
Madhusudhan was one of two victims from Andhra Pradesh killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. The second was J.S. Chandramouli, a retired bank official from Visakhapatnam.
On Wednesday night, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu received Chandramouli’s body at Visakhapatnam Airport, where he offered floral tributes and met with the grieving family.
Reaffirming the government’s support, the Chief Minister announced an ex-gratia of ₹10 lakh each to the families of Madhusudhan Rao and Chandramouli, stating, “These brave sons of Andhra Pradesh will never be forgotten. Their sacrifice is a reminder of the price we pay for peace and the importance of eliminating terror at its roots.”
