Chandrababu Naidu Calls for Grand Welcome for PM Modi During Amaravati Capital Development Event

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged the people and political leaders to give Prime Minister Narendra Modi a warm and grand welcome during his visit to Andhra Pradesh on May 2. Modi’s visit marks the recommencement of Amaravati capital development works, a significant milestone for the state. Speaking at a teleconference with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders on Monday, Naidu emphasized the importance of making the event a grand success.

Describing Amaravati as a symbol of pride and self-respect for the Telugu people, Naidu called on leaders to ensure the smooth organization of the event, ensuring that no attendee faces any inconvenience. “Amaravati is the soul of Andhra Pradesh, and it represents the aspirations of the people of the state,” said Naidu, highlighting the importance of the capital city to the state’s future.

He further elaborated on the significance of Amaravati, drawing a parallel with how every family dreams of owning a good home. “Just as a family desires a good house, the state needs a developed capital to bring pride to its people,” he said. According to Naidu, the vision for Amaravati is not just about infrastructure but about creating a well-developed city that will bring ample revenue to the state, much like Hyderabad does for Telangana, Bengaluru for Karnataka, and Chennai for Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Minister reiterated the importance of decentralized development, pointing out the establishment of central educational institutions in the three regions of Andhra Pradesh since 2014 under NDA’s policy. “We are focused on developing all regions equally and ensuring no part of the state is left behind,” Naidu remarked.

Naidu also addressed the ongoing challenges and resistance from certain forces, claiming that these groups were attempting to mislead the public. He clarified that farmers voluntarily gave up their land for the capital city and that the government was committed to providing residential and commercial plots to those farmers, making them stakeholders in the development. He emphasized that as industries come to the state, large-scale employment opportunities would open up, leading to improved roads, infrastructure, and a strengthened economy.

“Despite these challenges, we are committed to our welfare programs and development. Ministers and MLAs must take responsibility to communicate these positive developments to the public,” Naidu asserted. He also mentioned that the government had kept its election promises, citing several accomplishments, including the sanctioning of funds for the Polavaram project, approval of the Visakhapatnam railway zone, and allocation of ₹11,400 crore for the steel plant.

On industrial development, Naidu outlined plans to set up industrial parks across 42 constituencies, with a goal to eventually cover all 175 constituencies. He revealed that Visakhapatnam would be developed as the financial capital and Tirupati as a spiritual city, further strengthening the state’s economic and cultural identity. Additionally, he mentioned that global companies such as ArcelorMittal are investing ₹1 lakh crore in steel projects at Ramayapatnam and Anakapalli, which would position Visakhapatnam as a major steel-producing region in India.

“Rayalaseema will be developed as a hub for defense, electronics, automobiles, drones, satellite launching, and green energy. We will ensure Rayalaseema is well-connected by highways and airports to major cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad,” Naidu concluded.

The teleconference was attended by key leaders from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Jana Sena Party, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), all expressing their support for the vision of a developed Andhra Pradesh.
