IPL 2025: Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Record-Breaking Century Propels Rajasthan Royals to Victory
In a historic performance during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to score a century in men’s T20 cricket. Representing Rajasthan Royals, Suryavanshi achieved this remarkable feat in just his third IPL innings, scoring 101 runs off 38 balls against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on April 28, 2025.
Suryavanshi’s innings included 11 sixes and 7 fours, with 94 of his 101 runs coming from boundaries. His century, reached in just 35 balls, is the second-fastest in IPL history, behind only Chris Gayle’s 30-ball century, and the fastest by an Indian, surpassing Yusuf Pathan’s 37-ball century.
Opening the batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, who remained unbeaten on 70, Suryavanshi set a new record for the highest opening partnership in Rajasthan Royals’ history, amassing 166 runs. Their explosive start led the team to chase down Gujarat Titans’ total of 209/4 in just 15.5 overs, securing an eight-wicket victory with 25 balls to spare.
This victory marked a significant turnaround for Rajasthan Royals, ending their five-match losing streak and boosting their net run rate in the ongoing IPL season. Suryavanshi’s exceptional talent and composure under pressure have garnered widespread praise, including from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and team captain Riyan Parag.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s record-breaking century has not only etched his name in IPL history but also highlighted the bright future of Indian cricket, showcasing the emergence of young talent capable of making a significant impact on the international stage.
