India’s High-Level Security Meeting Signals Strong Response to Pahalgam Terror Attack

In a significant development following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a high-level security meeting with top defence officials. The meeting, described as “extraordinary in urgency and nature,” aims to assess the situation and formulate a robust response to cross-border terrorism.

The gathering included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the Chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Sources indicate that the agenda focused on reviewing actionable intelligence and exploring military and strategic options to dismantle terrorist infrastructure across the border. Pakistan-based outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba, believed to be behind the Pahalgam carnage, are under intense scrutiny.

In response to the attack, India has heightened military preparedness along the Line of Control and the international border. Surveillance drones, satellite imagery, and electronic intercepts are being utilized to monitor terror launchpads across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The Centre has also suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and expelled Pakistani nationals with short-term visas.

The international community is closely monitoring the situation. The United States has urged both India and Pakistan to engage in a “responsible resolution” to prevent further escalation. Pakistan, while denying involvement in the attack, has warned of potential retaliation if provoked, especially concerning water supply issues.ReutersLatest news & breaking headlines

As the nation awaits further developments, the government’s resolve to combat terrorism and ensure national security remains steadfast.
