In a significant boost to Andhra Pradesh’s industrial landscape, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh announced that 91 major companies have expressed interest in setting up operations in the state, bringing with them potential investments of ₹91,839 crore and the promise of over 1.4 lakh jobs.
During a high-level review meeting with senior officials from the IT and Electronics departments at his residence in Undavalli, Minister Lokesh directed the immediate appointment of nodal officers for each of the companies. These officers will be responsible for fast-tracking the necessary approvals and facilitating smooth coordination between the government and the investors.
Outlining his vision, Lokesh emphasized the government’s commitment to transforming Visakhapatnam into a hub for emerging technologies and a vibrant IT ecosystem. He called on the departments to devise strategic plans to position the city as a leader in digital innovation and electronics manufacturing.
The Minister also reviewed the investment proposals and employment targets of the companies interested in setting up operations. Stressing the importance of speed and efficiency, he instructed officials to ensure that all necessary permissions are granted without delay and to maintain active dialogue with industry representatives to accelerate project execution.
“Our target is to create 5 lakh jobs in the IT and electronics sectors,” Lokesh stated, reaffirming the government’s ambitious employment goals. He underscored the need for proactive governance and industry collaboration to realize this vision.
