In a major push to modernise India’s transport infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations across 86 districts in 18 states and Union Territories on Thursday. The revamp is part of the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at transforming more than 1,300 railway stations into world-class, commuter-friendly hubs.
The stations — spread across states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Gujarat — have been upgraded at a cumulative cost of approximately ₹1,100 crore. These upgrades include improved passenger amenities, better accessibility for Divyangjan (persons with disabilities), and integration of regional architectural styles, making each station a unique gateway to its locale.
As part of his visit to Rajasthan, PM Modi will offer prayers at the revered Karni Mata Temple in Deshnoke and visit the newly redeveloped Deshnoke station — one of the 103 being inaugurated. During the event, he will also flag off the new Bikaner-Mumbai Express, marking a significant boost in regional rail connectivity.
Railways and Roads: Twin Engines of Growth
In addition to rail development, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹26,000 crore, including key initiatives in road, power, and healthcare infrastructure. This includes:
58 km Churu–Sadulpur rail line foundation
Electrification of crucial rail sections such as Suratgarh–Phalodi and Phalodi–Jaisalmer
Three vehicular underpasses on NH-58 in Pushkar
Widening of NH-11 and NH-70
Seven national highway projects worth ₹4,850 crore to boost strategic connectivity and economic growth
Green Energy Push: Major Solar Projects Unveiled
In line with India’s commitment to renewable energy, the Prime Minister will also launch multiple solar power projects, including:
A 300 MW solar plant by NEEPCO in Bikaner
A 100 MW solar project by SJVN in Nawa
Solar installations in Didwana and Kuchaman
Grid-strengthening initiatives by Powergrid in Sirohi and Mewar
Healthcare and Education: Strengthening the Backbone
PM Modi’s visit also brings good news for the healthcare and education sectors in Rajasthan. He will inaugurate four new nursing colleges in Rajsamand, Pratapgarh, Bhilwara, and Dholpur — vital to enhancing access to skilled medical professionals across the state.
Additionally, new electrical substations in Bikaner and Udaipur will improve the region’s power distribution capabilities, ensuring more reliable electricity to homes and businesses.
