In a fiery political salvo, BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, accusing him of prioritizing pageantry over pressing public issues.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, KTR criticized what he called the Chief Minister’s “obsession with glamour,” citing his repeated appearances at Miss World events even as the state grapples with a series of crises.
“While over 580 farmers have taken their own lives, and paddy crops are being destroyed by heavy rains, Revanth Reddy has been busy posing on red carpets,” KTR said. “He has attended beauty pageants four times, but hasn’t found time to visit even one grieving family. Is this what Telangana voted for?”
KTR didn’t mince words, suggesting that the Chief Minister suffers from what he termed a “Multiple Personality Disorder”, accusing him of making contradictory statements and displaying erratic governance. “Every day, he speaks in a different voice. One day he claims the treasury is empty, the next he’s spending Rs 200 crore on fashion shows. Is this leadership, or a reality show?” KTR asked pointedly.
Taking aim at the government’s decision to host international beauty pageant delegates, KTR questioned the relevance of showcasing infrastructure projects to “beauty queens,” many of which, he pointed out, were completed under the previous BRS regime. “Every building, every project they showed off was built by us. Let Revanth name even one major achievement of his government. Just one,” KTR challenged.
He alleged that the glitzy events are part of a deliberate attempt to divert public attention from the Congress government’s failures in governance and to hide the real condition of the state. The former minister also lashed out at the notices served to former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao by the P.C. Ghose Commission, which is investigating the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project. KTR termed the probe “filthy politics wrapped in official paperwork.”
“This isn’t about accountability. It’s about canceling tenders and re-issuing them to cronies for 20–30% kickbacks. The real scam is happening now, under the Congress banner,” he claimed.
KTR further stated that the Congress’ narrative against the Palamuru-Rangareddy project has already unraveled, and predicted a similar outcome for the Kaleshwaram allegations. “The people of Telangana will see through this circus. They deserve serious governance, not publicity stunts,” he concluded.
As political temperatures rise, this exchange marks yet another chapter in the ongoing war of words between the BRS and Congress, hinting at a turbulent road ahead in Telangana’s political landscape.
