In a scathing political attack, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao has alleged that Telangana is being exploited as a financial hub for Congress party scams. His remarks come in response to reports that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s name has appeared in the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) chargesheet related to the National Herald case.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’, KTR pointed to the ED’s findings, which reportedly link Revanth Reddy to alleged fundraising efforts for Young Indian (YI) and Associated Journals Limited (AJL)—entities at the center of the National Herald controversy. Although not named as an accused, the ED claims Reddy acted on instructions from senior Congress leadership, including the late Ahmed Patel and Pawan Bansal, to solicit donations.
“The ED has confirmed what we’ve been saying—Telangana has become an ATM for Scamgress,” said KTR. “Now, with the ED naming Telangana’s ‘Bag Man’ in the chargesheet, it’s clear that corruption is thriving under this Congress regime.”
KTR further accused CM Revanth Reddy of leveraging political influence to pressure individuals into making large donations, warning that non-compliance could allegedly affect their political standing. He also questioned whether the NDA government would take firm action or allow the matter to fade, citing past cases like the Amrut Scam, RR Tax, and Civil Supplies scam as examples of unpunished corruption.
“The real question now is: Will the ED go beyond listing Revanth Reddy’s name and summon him for a full investigation? Or will this be another case where political power shields the corrupt?” KTR asked.
He claimed that Revanth Reddy’s questionable financial dealings were already surfacing before he took office as CM—and have only escalated since. “It started with hundreds of crores, and in just over a year, it’s ballooned into thousands of crores,” he alleged.
As political tensions heat up in Telangana, the ED’s revelations could have far-reaching consequences, both legally and electorally. Whether further action will be taken against the Chief Minister remains to be seen, but the opposition clearly sees an opportunity to amplify its corruption narrative ahead of key political milestones.
