Sunrisers Hyderabad continued their scorching run in the IPL with a dominant 42-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore, adding another big win to their streak after knocking out Lucknow Super Giants.
In a high-voltage clash held in Lucknow, the Sunrisers delivered a complete performance—first setting a daunting total and then dismantling RCB’s chase with precision.
After Bangalore won the toss and chose to bowl first, the Sunrisers’ batting unit went into overdrive, piling up a massive 231/6 in their 20 overs. The charge was led by Ishan Kishan, who smashed an unbeaten 94 off just 48 balls, lighting up the ground with 7 boundaries and 5 towering sixes. His aggressive knock provided the perfect finishing touch to a fiery innings.
RCB’s reply began on a promising note. Openers Philip Salt (62 off 32) and Virat Kohli (43 off 25) came out swinging, taking full advantage of the powerplay with a 72-run opening stand. Their partnership of 80 runs gave fans a glimmer of hope that the massive target could be chased down.
But after the fall of both openers, the tide quickly turned.
Bangalore’s middle order crumbled under pressure, failing to build on the explosive start. Contributions from Mayank Agarwal (11), Rajat Patidar (18), and captain Jitesh Sharma (24 off 15) weren’t enough to stem the collapse. From 173/3, RCB lost their last seven wickets for just 16 runs, folding for 189 in 19.5 overs.
The Sunrisers’ bowlers came alive in the second half of the innings. Captain Pat Cummins led from the front, picking up 3 crucial wickets for 28 runs. He was well supported by Ishan Malinga with two wickets, and a disciplined effort from Jaydev Unadkat, Harshal Patel, Harsh Dubey, and Nitish Kumar Reddy, who each chipped in with a wicket.
This marks Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fifth win in 13 matches, keeping their playoff hopes flickering. Their final league match is set for May 25, where they’ll face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi—a must-watch clash that could decide their fate in the tournament.
