Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan voiced strong support for the ‘One Nation, One Election’ initiative, describing it as a crucial reform for India’s democratic and administrative efficiency. Speaking at a seminar dedicated to the topic in Chennai, Kalyan emphasized that India has the capacity to implement such a transformation if there is political will and collective resolve.
“If there is a will, there is a way. Initial hurdles are inevitable, but with determination, they can be overcome,” he said, underlining the logistical feasibility of conducting simultaneous elections across the nation.
Addressing concerns over Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Kalyan dismissed allegations questioning their reliability as baseless. “The YSR Congress Party won in 2019 using the same EVMs. Casting doubt on the system only when results are unfavorable is not credible,” he remarked.
Kalyan also expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asserting that India is progressing under his governance. He predicted that the BJP-led alliance would emerge victorious in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. “India needs strong, visionary leadership, and Prime Minister Modi has demonstrated that capability. Development is accelerating under his stewardship,” he said.
The seminar, which drew policymakers and political leaders from across the country, explored the challenges and potential benefits of synchronizing state and national elections — a move proponents say could save resources, reduce administrative burden, and improve governance continuity.
