The CID police have registered a case against former MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy, naming him as the 127th accused in the attack on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) central office in Mangalagiri. The incident took place on October 19, 2021, during the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government’s tenure, when a mob of YSRCP supporters launched a violent attack on the TDP office.

At the time, despite the gravity of the incident, no action was taken by the police under the then YSRCP administration. However, following the formation of the current coalition government, the case was transferred to the CID for a thorough investigation.

In the ongoing probe, the CID has broadened the scope of the case, adding several serious charges, including attempt to murder, and has arrested multiple individuals linked to the attack. Among the accused are prominent YSRCP leaders such as Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Lella Appireddy, Devineni Avinash, and others from Krishna and Guntur districts.

Notably, Panuganti Chaitanya, president of the YSRCP student wing, was arrested and remanded but later released on bail. So far, 44 individuals have filed 11 bail petitions, all of which have been granted conditional anticipatory bail.

Two weeks ago, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, a key figure in the previous YSRCP government, was questioned by the CID as the 120th accused. The recent inclusion of former MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy in the case has added new momentum to the investigation, signaling a determined effort to bring all responsible parties to justice.
