A high-level all-party Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by senior BJP leader and MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, held a significant meeting with the UK’s Shadow Foreign Secretary, Priti Patel, to reinforce India’s firm commitment to combating cross-border terrorism. The discussion also spotlighted Operation Sindoor, which the delegation described as a defining example of India’s new and assertive counterterrorism posture.

The Indian Embassy in London, through a post on social media platform X, confirmed the interaction and shared that the delegation’s visit aimed to deepen bilateral cooperation and showcase India’s zero-tolerance stance on terrorism. Earlier in the day, the delegation received a detailed briefing from Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, on India-UK relations, particularly in the context of strategic counterterrorism cooperation.

The delegation also paid tribute to two of India’s most iconic figures—Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi—during ceremonial visits in London. At the Ambedkar Museum, housed in the building where the architect of India’s Constitution once resided, the leaders marked the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution by offering floral tributes and reflecting on Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring legacy.

“Dr. Ambedkar’s vision of justice, equality, and constitutional democracy continues to inspire our collective resolve,” said BJP MP Ghulam Ali Khatana. “This visit reaffirms our democratic values and commitment to combating terrorism in all forms.”

The delegation also visited Tavistock Square Gardens, where they laid floral tributes at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Speaking on the occasion, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Mahatma Gandhi stood for peace and non-violence, and we strongly affirm that terrorism, in any form, is morally and universally unacceptable.”

Later in the evening, the delegation engaged with members of the Indian diaspora at India House, highlighting India’s readiness to confront terrorism with decisive action. The event drew participation from community leaders and professionals across the UK, showcasing the broad support for India’s stance against global terrorism. The bipartisan delegation includes MPs across political lines: BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, Samik Bhattacharya, and Ghulam Ali Khatana; Congress MP Amar Singh; Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi; former Union Minister M.J. Akbar; AIADMK leader M. Thambidurai; and former Indian Ambassador Pankaj Saran.

The delegation’s visit underlines not only India’s evolving geopolitical approach to global security but also its firm belief in projecting democratic values, strategic cooperation, and diaspora engagement on the world stage.
