Dissent Brews in Telangana Congress: Former MLA Accuses MP Mallu Ravi of Undermining Party Discipline
In a fresh turn of events highlighting internal tensions within the Telangana Congress, former MLA A. Sampath Kumar has lodged a formal complaint against Nagarkurnool MP Mallu Ravi. The complaint, submitted to All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan on Thursday, points to what Kumar describes as “anti-party conduct” by the senior leader.
Sampath Kumar expressed concern over MP Mallu Ravi’s continued association with BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) MLA Vijay, alleging that such proximity to opposition leaders is not only inappropriate but could also inflict serious damage on the Congress party’s credibility and grassroots momentum—especially in the politically sensitive Ummadi Mahabubnagar district.
“Mallu Ravi’s actions are straying from the party line. His ongoing rapport with a BRS legislator raises serious questions about party loyalty and discipline,” Sampath wrote in his letter. He also questioned the MP’s continuation as Chairman of the Amnesty Committee, calling for disciplinary action and a reevaluation of his leadership role.
The former MLA has urged the AICC leadership to intervene swiftly, warning that a lack of corrective measures could send the wrong message to party workers and undermine internal unity ahead of crucial elections. This incident adds to the string of recent developments in the region, underscoring the growing unrest and factionalism within the Telangana Congress. As the party strives to consolidate its position in the state, such internal discord could prove to be a significant setback if not addressed promptly.
