Congress Targets KTR Again: Fresh FIR Filed Over Remarks on Revanth Reddy; ACB & ED Summons Loom
The Congress-led government in Telangana has escalated its legal actions against BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), as a fresh First Information Report (FIR) has been registered by the Cyber Crime Police. The move comes following a formal complaint lodged by Congress MLC Balmuri Venkat, who alleged that KTR made inappropriate and inflammatory comments against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy.
According to Venkat’s complaint filed with the Central Crime Station (CCS) on Friday, the remarks were not only defamatory but also posed a threat to public peace and security in the state. Acting on the complaint, the police have now filed an FIR and initiated a preliminary investigation.
Formula E Case: ACB and ED Turn Up the Heat
In a separate ongoing case related to the Formula E-car race permissions and alleged irregularities, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has once again issued summons to KTR. He has been asked to appear for questioning on June 16, following an earlier notice dated May 28.
This isn’t the first time KTR has been summoned in connection with this case. In fact, the ACB issued its first notice in January, calling him for questioning on January 6. While KTR initially presented himself along with legal counsel, ACB officials reportedly refused to allow a lawyer’s presence during the interrogation. Consequently, KTR submitted a written response outside the ACB office. Subsequent summons led to KTR appearing before the ACB on January 9, during which he was reportedly asked 82 questions over a seven-hour session.
Adding to the pressure, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) also summoned KTR on January 16, probing similar allegations. During this session, KTR is said to have faced over 40 questions across eight hours.
Despite the legal challenges, KTR maintains that the case is sub judice and has emphasized his cooperation with investigating agencies while stressing the political undertones behind the timing of the actions.
