Trump Asserts U.S. Air Superiority Over Iran, Denies Link to Ceasefire Talks
Amid the intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday asserted that the United States has achieved “complete and total control” of the skies over Iranian territory. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed that while Iran possesses a significant arsenal of air defense systems, they are no match for American technology.
“Iran had good sky trackers and other defensive equipment, and plenty of it, but it doesn’t compare to American-made, conceived, and manufactured equipment. Nobody does it better than the good ol’ USA,” Trump wrote. “We now have complete and total control of the skies over Iran.”
Earlier in the day, President Trump departed early from the ongoing Group of Seven (G7) Summit in Canada and returned to Washington. However, he clarified that the move was unrelated to the Israel-Iran hostilities.
Reacting to French President Emmanuel Macron’s comment that Trump had left to mediate a ceasefire, Trump sharply denied any such intention.
“Publicity-seeking President Emmanuel Macron of France mistakenly said that I left the G7 Summit to return to D.C. to work on a ‘ceasefire’ between Israel and Iran. Wrong!” Trump posted. “He has no idea why I am on my way back, but it certainly has nothing to do with a ceasefire. Much bigger than that. Whether purposely or not, Emmanuel always gets it wrong. Stay tuned!”
The conflict between Israel and Iran, which began on Friday, entered its fifth consecutive day on Tuesday. Israel has publicly declared its objective to dismantle Iran’s nuclear program, and tensions continue to rise following multiple missile attacks launched from Iran toward Israeli territory. President Trump had previously called on Iranian citizens to evacuate Tehran, warning of possible intensified aerial strikes as the crisis unfolds.
