PM Modi Launches ₹5,736 Crore Development Projects in Bihar, Signals Major Push Ahead of Elections
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 22 key development projects worth ₹5,736 crore during a high-profile visit to Bihar’s Siwan district. His arrival was met with tight security and an enthusiastic public turnout, underlining the political significance of the event.
The public gathering at Jasoli saw the presence of top dignitaries, including Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, and several Union Ministers.
Addressing the crowd, CM Nitish Kumar hailed the central government’s contributions to Bihar’s progress. “Today, several high-value projects are being launched that will accelerate Bihar’s development, especially in infrastructure, energy, and sanitation. This includes the inauguration of two new train services,” he said.
Nitish Kumar also credited the Modi-led government for enhancing security in the state, promoting women’s empowerment, and taking historic steps like the caste-based census. “There was a time when people were afraid to go out in the evening. Today, Bihar is marching forward,” he added.
PM Modi, who arrived from Uttar Pradesh’s Kushinagar, was welcomed with massive public celebrations along his route. A roadshow in an open jeep saw people line the streets, showering petals and chanting slogans like “Modi Zindabad” and “Welcome Modi Ji”. The Prime Minister greeted the crowd with smiles and waves, creating a festive atmosphere.
On stage, BJP Bihar President Dilip Jaiswal welcomed Modi with a bouquet and shawl, saying, “The moment we had all been waiting for has arrived.” His remarks reflected the BJP’s enthusiasm ahead of the crucial upcoming Assembly elections.
This marks PM Modi’s fifth visit to Bihar in 2025, reflecting the NDA government’s strategic focus on the state. The launch of back-to-back development initiatives is also being viewed as a direct response to opposition criticisms over governance and law and order concerns. With the Assembly elections approaching, today’s announcements are expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative around development and delivery in Bihar.
