Several Southeast Asian nations, including Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, came together on Saturday to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), under this year’s resonant theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The celebrations reflected a growing commitment to unity, holistic wellness, and sustainable living across the region.
Thailand: A Grand Convergence at Chulalongkorn University
In Thailand, over 4,000 participants from diverse backgrounds gathered at the historic Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, performing yoga in unison to mark the culmination of 100 days of yoga-related events held nationwide. The Indian Embassy in Bangkok, in a post on X, shared,
“Over 4000 participants from different walks of life performed the Yoga Protocol in unison, reflecting the spirit of ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’. It was the culmination of the celebrations to commemorate 10 years of IDY, marked by more than 30 yoga events across Thailand.”
Indian Ambassador to Thailand, Nagesh Singh, in his welcome address, underscored the importance of yoga in nurturing physical, mental, and environmental well-being — values that resonate strongly with global goals of sustainability and unity.
Joining him at the event were Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, and Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University. Both dignitaries spoke on how yoga is deepening ties between the people of India and Thailand, while also promoting healthier, more conscious lifestyles.
Cambodia: Spiritual Setting for a Meaningful Practice
In Cambodia, yoga enthusiasts assembled in front of the iconic Botum Vatey Monastery in Phnom Penh to celebrate the occasion with grace and spiritual reverence. Appreciating the cooperation of the Cambodian authorities, the Indian Embassy in Phnom Penh posted on X:
“Thanks to Ministries of Tourism, Culture and Fine Arts, Education, Youth and Sport, and Phnom Penh Capital Administration for the support. Special thanks to Huot Hak, Cambodian Minister of Tourism, for gracing the event.”
The celebrations echoed Cambodia’s growing engagement with India’s traditional practices, blending cultural affinity with wellness awareness.

A Regional Embrace of India’s Yogic Legacy
The 2025 theme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” underscored the link between personal wellness and planetary health. Across Southeast Asia, yoga is no longer just a form of physical exercise — it is emerging as a bridge between nations, cultures, and communities.
From university campuses to spiritual sites and diplomatic circles, this year’s celebrations have reinforced yoga’s role in creating a more united, mindful, and sustainable world.
