Harish Rao Lashes Out at Revanth Reddy Over Remarks on KCR and Telangana’s Development
Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao launched a scathing attack on Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Tuesday, accusing him of displaying “petty-mindedness” and “political immaturity” during the Rythu Nestham Samburala program held in front of the Secretariat.
Harish Rao took strong objection to Revanth’s reported remarks suggesting punishment for former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), the architect of Telangana’s statehood and the Rythu Bandhu scheme, which has transferred over ₹80,000 crore to farmers over the years. Calling it a disgraceful statement, Harish Rao said such comments reflect “a collapse in political culture and civility.”
In a statement, he said, “Revanth Reddy, who became Chief Minister by making false promises, has continued to spread misinformation and insult the very leadership that transformed Telangana. Speaking in such a derogatory manner against the person who risked his life for statehood and revolutionized agriculture is utterly shameful.”
Harish Rao pointed out that Telangana achieved record grain production under the BRS government, questioning how the state could be labelled a “desert” during KCR’s decade-long administration if it became number one in paddy output.
He added that KCR’s administration converted long-pending irrigation projects into functioning ones and brought 44 lakh acres under cultivation with an investment of ₹2 lakh crore. Projects like Kalwakurthy, Nettempadu, Bima, and Koilsagar, which now irrigate over 6.5 lakh acres, were developed at a cost of ₹4,000 crore during KCR’s tenure, he emphasized.
Referring to allegations of corruption in the Kaleshwaram project, Harish Rao challenged Revanth to verify facts with the irrigation department before making accusations. “It is irresponsible for the Chief Minister to make unfounded claims about projects like Annaram and Sundilla collapsing without any credible proof,” he said.
He also took exception to Revanth demanding an Assembly session while allegedly lacking basic knowledge about legislative affairs. “It is ironic that someone heading the Assembly seems unaware of its workings,” he remarked.
Harish Rao further said that history and Telangana society will not forgive Revanth Reddy for belittling the contributions of KCR. “The credit for making agriculture a festival through Rythu Bandhu and turning Telangana into a grain powerhouse goes to KCR. Farmers will not trust a leader who disrespects this legacy,” he stated.
In conclusion, Harish Rao warned that no amount of “false propaganda or reckless speech” can erase the developmental milestones achieved during BRS rule and advised Revanth Reddy to “seek facts before speaking and respect the legacy that built Telangana.”
